Tools for David

The goal of this project is to provide our challenger, David, with the means to dress himself despite having Multiple Sclerosis. The devices currently available are single-handed tools that aid in buttoning pants, however they only work with loose, lightweight fabric, and are not optimal for those who prefer to wear jeans. We also strive to develop a product that is small enough to keep in one’s pocket for convenience and discretion.

This project was opened at the end of Fall 2017 and team members will be selected at the beginning of Winter 2017. We are very excited to get a team together and begin the ideation stage of this project. There are many qualified applicants and interviews will commence at the beginning of Winter 2017 so that we may get started as soon as possible.

Team Lead, Zachary Miller

I am a 2nd year Biomedical Engineering major from Granite Bay, California (near Sacramento).  I chose Cal Poly because of the ‘Learn by Doing’ philosophy and for how well this university prepares students for careers in industry. I joined QL+ because of the amazing opportunities it provides. Through QL+, one can learn relevant skills and gain relevant engineering experience through Formal Design Projects, Quarterly Design Projects, and Workshops.  I also have a passion for helping people and QL+ provides allows me to help those in need in ways I could never do by myself.
